About
The Grassroots Clinic
About Us
The founders of The Grassroots Clinic have over 30 years of combined clinical experience. During the majority of their careers, medical marijuana was not an available treatment option. Fortunately for Texas residents, the use of medical marijuana to treat a wide variety of medical conditions is now legal. Despite the availability to Texas residents, it is often difficult for patients to obtain and feel comfortable using medical cannabis. The Grassroots Clinic was formed to provide patients easy access to medical cannabis-certified physicians while in the comfort and privacy of their own home.
Our Mission
We want Texas residents in need of medical marijuana to have access to compassionate and qualified physicians who can provide them with personalized dosing recommendations for medical cannabis. The Grassroots Clinic’s focus is to create a treatment environment that is educational and helps the patient to feel comfortable with the use of medical marijuana.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is medical marijuana legal in Texas?

The act has since expanded its legal use to include PTSD, all forms of cancer, and many other conditions and neurological diseases.
Are medical marijuana cards issued in Texas?
No, patients qualified for medical marijuana in the State of Texas do not receive a physical medical marijuana card. You only need a government issued ID to receive medical marijuana from a Texas dispensary. If you need a caregiver to pick up your medical marijuana for you, our Grassroots Physician can add their information to your profile. You can also choose to have your medical marijuana delivered to your home.
What are the benefits of medical marijuana?
Medical marijuana can help with symptoms associated with many medical conditions while putting the patient at lower risk for kidney or liver issues compared to other commonly prescribed medications. Texas currently only allows the use of medical cannabis for these conditions and neurological diseases. What is the difference between “cannabis” and “marijuana”?
How do I use medical cannabis?
What is a Texas medical marijuana/cannabis dispensary?
Texas medical marijuana/cannabis dispensaries are licensed by the State of Texas to provide medical marijuana to patients. These dispensaries can deliver your medical cannabis to you or you can visit the physical location to obtain your medication.
Can I travel out of state with my medical marijuana?
No, you cannot travel out of state with medical marijuana obtained in Texas since transporting marijuana across state lines is considered a federal crime. Even though Texas has approved cannabis for medical use, the federal government still considers possession of marijuana illegal.
How do I obtain my medical marijuana products after I am approved for the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT)?
Once you complete a virtual visit with a Grassroots Clinic cannabis-certified physician and are qualified to receive medical marijuana, your information will be entered into the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT) database. You can then contact a licensed Texas dispensary to coordinate delivery of your medical marijuana or pick it up in-person.
Why should I use a Grassroots Clinic physician to obtain medical cannabis when I have access to marijuana through other means?
Many people wonder why they would need to see a physician to obtain medical marijuana when they have access to marijuana through other means such as friends. The two main reasons are:
- Possession of marijuana in Texas is illegal unless it is obtained from a physician through the Texas Compassionate Use Program.
- A Grassroots Clinic physician will personalize your treatment plan specific to you and your individual needs. The same dosage and combination of THC and CBD does not work the same for everybody.
Medical cannabis dispensaries in Texas are highly regulated which leads to a product with the highest standards in quality, purity, and consistency. Each batch of product is carefully tested for harmful contaminants such as lead and arsenic, which can commonly be found in the soil of home grown or unregulated marijuana products.
If you are approved for the Texas Compassionate Use Program through The Grassroots Clinic, you will receive a physician-signed medical marijuana authorization letter that offers you legal coverage for possession and use of your medical marijuana in the State of Texas.
What is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol)?
THC and CBD are natural chemicals found in cannabis plants that have been shown to help treat symptoms associated with certain medical conditions.
THC is only found in the marijuana plant. Most people associate THC with the “high” feeling described when using marijuana since it stimulates the pleasure center of the brain. The reality is that THC offers so much more than just getting someone “high”. It is one of the main chemicals associated with the medical benefits of marijuana.
CBD, especially when combined with THC, provides multiple medical benefits and helps prevent some of the unwanted side effects from THC such as inebriation, anxiety, and dizziness. Our medical cannabis-certified physicians will work with you to determine the optimal dosage of THC and/or CBD to treat your particular medical condition.
